(August 20, 2018 – Naples, FL)
The Board of Physician Led Access Network (PLAN) recently elected Dr. Serge Mistivar to serve a three-year term on the Board of Directors.

Dr. Mistivar is board certified in Family Medicine and serves as Medical Director for Adult Medicine at Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida (HCN) and Physician in Charge for the Naples and Immokalee regions. He is currently piloting a senior care program for HCN to bring ancillary services to low-income patient populations in Immokalee and Naples because transportation issues for these patients impact access to quality care.

Mistivar grew up in Haiti in a family of modest means and little options. He found his calling at 8 years old to dedicate his life to becoming a physician to families in need because of a well-dressed physician who would treat his community at a local clinic. He was impressed by this down-to-earth, educated man who valued people regardless of their economic situation. Mistivar is the first of his family to attend college and has made it his life’s mission to aspire to be that person to his patients.

“This is personal to me. I gladly responded to a request by the leadership of Healthcare Network to represent the company on the PLAN Board because I have an almost daily first-hand look at the lifesaving work that the organization provides as part of PLAN’s volunteer physician network” says Dr. Mistivar. “I hope to contribute the perspective of someone who is in the trenches. In particular, I hope to help recruit specialists, who are essential to the continued fulfillment of the organization’s mission.”
